Dealing with Change
Change is one of the most consistent things in life. We are constantly changing in an ever-changing world. One aspect of this can be seen in the ageing process. When we reflect on the image in a mirror, we look and see a maturing edition of ourselves and see the work of nature taking its course in our lives. We can also look at the world around us and see things changing. We are witnessing laws changing, the ways people manage their lives changing, technology changing. This constant process of change can often create a level of insecurity in us. The reason is, we often find that we cannot keep up with the speed of change. Often we want changes to occur, but we don’t want to have to change. We would like others to change! When we take an honest look at ourselves - this can possibly be the hardest point of change - it can be a big wake up call. When we admit to ourselves our need for change it can shake things up. Our security is tested during times of change. Sometimes where we have based our security is revealed to us. The writer in the book of Hebrews (in the Bible) reminds us in, Hebrews 6:19, 'This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil.' Is our hope in the one who rent the veil and allowed us back into the presence of God? Jesus has become our mediator between us and God and has restored hope in the heart of humanity. Often during periods of change, our hope can be clouded. You may need to pray and ask God to give you a restored hope and clear focus on what Jesus has made accessible to you by removing the barrier of your wrongdoing by the blood of Jesus. Thereby allowing us into God’s presence! God Bless you! Michael Holloway Hi,
I am Pastor Michael Holloway. I have been living in Dundee for 6 years now and have been involved with Full Gospel church during this time. I would like to invite you to read my reflections. This is the first one I have done, and I hope to continue with this every month. So here it goes… I watched a programme that was broadcasted on STV on Tuesday night @ 8.30pm (21/05/19) about the addiction problem in Dundee called Scotland Stories. This type of coverage has the tendency to cast a shadow over Dundee as it highlights the issues that we don’t always want to admit exist, or we choose to ignore. Unfortunately, the problem is real and it’s not going away. The sad truth is that we choose to ignore it until it personally affects us or touches our lives in some way. If, and when, it touches our lives it brings tragedy. With everything it touches it creates a negative trajectory. On October 2018, due to the addiction problems we see in our city, we at Full Gospel Church started a monthly meeting on the last Sunday evening of the month called Stories of Hope These meetings are held at the church in our café area. These nights consist of someone telling their personal story of how they have escaped the power of addiction. So often addiction can be like being trapped in a place of darkness not seeing any way out or any means of escape, it can feel like a dead end. In the Gospel according to Matthew, he writes in chapter 4 verse 16, “The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned”. There is hope for those living in darkness and the shadow of death there is a light to show a way out. The Great Story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus can still shine light into whatever darkness casts itself over our world. The question I want to put to you is ‘what can you do to continue being light in the darkness?’ God Bless you! Michael Holloway Last Sunday of the month, enjoy a free evening listening to the inspiring stories of men & women who have suffered with addictions and are now walking in freedom! Come and enjoy these personal storie, along with a coffee & tea on us.
